SESSION 1: THE BASICS OF EQUIPMENT RELIABILITY
This first session focuses on preserving equipment functions by identifying appropriate Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks, Predictive Maintenance (PdM) tasks, failure finding tasks and other actions that protect against failure or mitigate the consequences of failure. Examples and exercises give participants hands on experience to help them begin to master RCM concepts. RCM or Reliability Centered Maintenance, can be defined as a process used to determine what must be done to ensure that any physical asset continues to do whatever its users want it to do in its present operating context. By this, RCM enables the reliability engineers to set up a reliability based maintenance program for new and existing equipment.
