"How to grow from a Maintenance Manager to a Maintenance Leader?"
by Mr. Mike Aroney - Principal Consultant, GPAllied, LLC.
This
presentation will provide a guideline for becoming an effective leader,
especially during implementation of change and economically challenging
times.
- The component in our manufacturing system with the largest variation in performance is the human.
- The best we can achieve in reducing variation in human performance is “3 Sigma” – following standards 95 % of the time – utilizing effective Leadership.
- What should the Maintenance Manager do to effectively lead in an economic recession?
- How to provide leadership that is appropriate for the situation.
About the speaker
Mike
Aroney is a retired US Navy Officer. He held various leadership
positions in maintenance, operations, and command, and is a graduate of
the Italian Naval War College, and TOPGUN. He was graduated from
Columbia University in New York City and earned graduate degrees in
Science and Business Administration during his Navy Career. Mike is
currently an adjunct Assistant Professor of Aeronautical Science at
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL.
After
the Navy, Mike was Director of Corporate Planning for a Global, Fortune
500 Company where he provided change leadership for a major business
process re-engineering initiative that impacted 21,000 employees. He
left to join the Navy Sea Systems Command as a Program Manager and led
major process and systems changes in how the US Navy maintains its
ships worldwide. Mike joined Life Cycle Engineering 9 years ago as a
Principal Consultant for Change Management and Leadership and Managing
Director of a $25 million Engineering and Maintenance Business Unit. He
joined GP Allied in May 2009 as Principal Consultant and thought leader
for Change Management and Leadership.
Mike has published several
articles on Leadership and Change Management in various Engineering and
Maintenance journals, and has provided keynote speeches and
presentations for Maintenance and Reliability organizations around the
world. He also teaches workshops on leadership and change management in
the US, Europe, and Latin America, Australia, and Japan.

2009-09-08 - World Congress on Engineering Asset Management
The World Congress on Engineering Asset Management
is hosted at the Athens Ledra Marriott Hotel in Athens, Greece,
between 28-30 September 2009.
It is the fourth in the series, with previous WCEAM Congresses held in the
- Gold Coast, Australia (2006),
- Harrogate, UK (2007) and
- Beijing, China (2008).
It is the first to be organised under the auspices of the International Society of Engineering Asset Management (ISEAM)
