total (including accompanying), not only from Spain but European countries
and other around the world. This figure shows the great importance that
Euromaintenance has at international level.
Such as it was foreseen in the Final Program, the different Sessions were
developed without any important alteration and with a very good
participation. Plenary Sessions were dedicated to the topic “Improving
Maintenance” and Parallel Sessions to,
• Future of Maintenance
• Condition Based Maintenance
• Maintenance Management
• Maintenance Economy
• Building and Infrastructure Maintenance
• Maintenance and Sustainability

• Optimisation of Maintenance

Participants have no problem to move from one Hall to another during
Parallel Sessions due the coordinated timetable and in function of the
interest in the subject dealt in each Hall.
A Workshop Panel with posters was organised in conjunction with the Congress.
In it all selected people could offer information and personal contacts with
explanations to the questions required. All papers of this Workshop were
printed in a second Proceedings Book of the Congress.
Just beginning the Closing Ceremony, 13th May, the Master
Thesis Award was delivered for Mr. Hans Alhmann and Mrs. Mirta Baranovic to
the Norwegian students Mr. Mikael Hägerty and Mr. Mikael Johansson, for
their thesis written for the Technological Institute of Linköping with the
tittle “Maintenance is cheaper!”. One of the conclusions of this thesis is
that the costs related with Maintenance are generally lower, at least in
comparison with costs calculated for the lost production due an insufficient
or incorrect Maintenance.
The Closing Ceremony was presided by Mrs. Mirta Baranovic,
Mr. Arjo Klijn, Mr. Jose Luis Fabres and Mr. Pedro Rodríguez (Project
Manager of Euromaintenance).
A first assessment of the Congress was presented with a
