MaintWorld, the new professional magazine on maintenance and asset management has been launched. MaintWorld is the outcome of European-wide co-operation and it is the initiative of EFNMS (European Federation of National Maintenance Societies) which is the umbrella organisation of 22 national maintenance and asset management societies. The magazine is published by KP-Media Oy, a subsidiary of Finnish Maintenance Society Promaint.

MaintWorld is a professional magazine targeted to all maintenance and asset management professionals in Europe. The magazine consists of professional articles written by acknowledged experts, the topics covering the latest research from universities and institutes as well as practical applications from industry. The contents are outlined by the editorial board, which consists of maintenance experts in Europe. The magazine has minimum of 60 pages printed in 4-colour on high quality paper. The print run of MaintWorld is 20 000 copies and the electronic version of the magazine is available at www.maintworld.com. Readers of the magazine are the members of national maintenance societies and all professionals who are involved with maintenance or asset management in Europe.

The role of maintenance and asset management has been changing significantly during the past couple of decades. The profession, which was previously considered a support function for production, has recently become the key factor for the competitiveness of companies. Today maintenance is a profession of its own and for more and more companies it is the core business. Europe is today a single market area also in the field of maintenance, reliability and asset management. However there has been a lack of joint European communication channel of research, technology, knowhow and best practices within the field. MaintWorld provides a way to keep up with the constantly increasing speed of change and development in maintenance and asset management.

2009-11-18 - SMRP and EFNMS Issues Globalized Indicators Document

flags_usa flags_europe SMRP and EFNMS Issues Globalized Indicators

The SMRP (Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals) and the EFNMSvzw (European Federation of National Maintenance Societies) has jointly published the 2nd Edition of the book “Global Maintenance and Reliability Indicators”. A significant update from the 1st Edition, the number of harmonized indicators has been expanded from 17 to 26.

When comparing maintenance and availability performance you need a set of predefined indicators supported by definitions. In Europe, maintainers rely on the indicators defined in standard EN 15341: 2007. In North America, the SMRP metrics are the recognized authority.

If you want to compare and translate the different local indicators and definitions you should use the “Global Maintenance and Reliability Indicators” book. Harmonized indicators are those which are similar between the SMRP metrics and standard EN 15431, and those for which any differences can be identified. The harmonized indicators provide a common platform for global organizations to benchmark their facilities across borders.

Further discussions and reference material are available on the Global Indicators website:  www.HarmonisedIndicators.org.

The book is available for purchase now.
